The 2014 Adult Summer Reading Program begins at Bristol Public Library & Manross Memorial Library, on June 25th! From June 25, through August 15 adults patrons who check out library materials will have the opportunity to receive a raffle slip to win gift cards from a variety of local businesses. Prize drawings will be held August 15 after 12:00 PM & winners will be notified the following week. Raffle slips will also be awarded to all patrons attending adult SRP events. 1 raffle slip per check out (not per item) & patrons must have a valid library card from a Connecticut public library. There are also a wide variety of summer activities for adults at the libraries this summer–including music, movies, book discussions, author visits and dramatic presentations. Something for everyone!
Author and educator Latoya McPherson, author of Scars that Never Heal, will present a program on how we are affected by traumatic events in our lives & suggestions for aiding the healing process. Her faith-based methodology has been well received in a variety of settings and she has been a frequent guest on radio. No Charge. Please Register.
The Bristol Public Library & the Manross Memorial Library will be closed Saturday May 24, Sunday May, 25 & Monday May 26, 2014 in observance of Memorial Day. The Bristol Public Library will re-open on Tuesday, May 27 at 8:30 AM and the Manross Memorial Library will re-open Tuesday, May 27 at 10:00 AM.

During the month of April, Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, in Bristol, is hosting an exhibit of artworks and handcrafted goods by Bristol natives Bob and Cindy Stafford. Bob and Cindy, who have been creating their art for over thirty years, are the co-owners of Stafford Creations. Inspired mostly by nature, Bob gathers and dries his own wood for carving, often after storms, and uses any variety nature may give him. He uses wood from pine, to fruit woods, to hardwoods, while Cindy is the painter of their creations and of her own works as well..She uses Acrylics for woodcarvings and gouache and watercolor for her own paintings.
