The Bristol History Room, which houses the local history collection of the Bristol Public Library, will be open monthly on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:30 AM on the following dates: September 20, October 18, November 15 and December 13. The Bristol History Room collection includes books about Bristol, pictures and postcards, maps, diaries, church and assessor’s records, newspapers on microfilm, cemetery, birth, death and marriage indexes, city directories and yearbooks. There are nearly a hundred historic images of Bristol on permanent display in the local history room and temporary exhibits of pictures of Lake Compounce and objects made at the American Silver Company. The super popular BPL Minecraft Club is back this fall! Mr. Soper & Ms. Mennone are once again guiding club members through non-violent & cooperative adventures in order to complete mining tasks & quest objectives! There will be two five-week sessions this fall (October 7 – November 4 & November 18 - December 16). Registration begins September 29 (September 30th for those who participated this summer). Bristol Public Library will host an afternoon music program with internationally known American folk musician, historian & staff musician at Mystic Seaport, Rick Spencer, on Saturday, September 13 at 2:00 PM. The program entitled On the Job: Historic Songs of American Work and Trades will also include a presentation on the labor movement in America & the modern use of work songs.
