Event Details

The legendary 1914 Christmas Truce broke out spontaneously as troops from both sides emerged from the trenches fraternizing and refusing to fight on Christmas Day, temporarily bringing the Great War to a halt.

Our discussion book will be Silent Night: The Story of the 1914 Christmas Truce by Stanley Weintraub.  Following the book discussion we will watch recent (2005) movie version based on the actual events.  Come to either or both. Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk November 3, 2014, to participants, upon sign-up, courtesy of a Friends of Bristol Public Library Program Grant.
