Tickets for the 2016 Friends of the Bristol Public Library Author Luncheon go on sale on April 1st. The Friends of the Bristol Public Library invite you to a community Author Luncheon with best-selling author Stewart O’Nan, Thursday, July 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 42 Century Drive, Bristol, CT. Stewart O’Nan will discuss how he came to write three books set in Connecticut (Night Country, Circus Fire and Last Night at the Lobster) and how area libraries were of help to him. Stewart will also read from his national best-selling novel, Last Night at the Lobster, based on true events in Bristol and the local area. Doors open @ 11:30 AM. Ticket includes a plated lunch and the author’s presentation, followed by Q & A and book signing. Ticket price: $28.00. The book sale is held in the lower level meeting rooms and Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, Bristol, CT. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Bristol Public Library.
The Friends of the Bristol Public Library will hold a used book mini-sale on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 in the lower level of the Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, Bristol. The sale hours are 9:00AM to 4:00PM on Friday and 9:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, with an adult fiction half-price sale on Saturday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The sale features 2,000 gently used fiction and non-fiction books for children, teens and adults, priced at $1.00 and $2.00, and a large selection of specially priced books at a slightly higher cost.
The Friends are also holding an ongoing mini-sale at the Manross Memorial Library, 260 Central Street, Forestville, starting on June 8 and running until the end of the month. This sale features hardcover and softcover books for readers of all ages, and the books can be purchased whenever the library is open.
Both sales will allow shoppers to stock up on summer reading material, and the proceeds will help fund mini-grants for children, young adult, and adult programs at both Bristol libraries.
2014 Holiday Mini Book Sale The Friends of the Bristol Public Library will hold a Holiday Mini-Sale beginning on Monday, December 1st in the lobbies of the Bristol Public Library and the Manross Memorial Library. Nearly new books for readers of all ages, movies and CDs, including many holiday-themed and gift-quality items, will be available for purchase at reasonable prices whenever the libraries are open. The sale will allow shoppers to stock up on winter reading material as well as holiday gifts, and the proceeds will help fund reading programs for children, young adults, and adults at both Bristol libraries.
