The Friends of the Bristol Public Library will hold a used book mini-sale on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 in the lower level of the Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, Bristol. The sale hours are 9:00AM to 4:00PM on Friday and 9:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, with an adult fiction half-price sale on Saturday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The sale features 2,000 gently used fiction and non-fiction books for children, teens and adults, priced at $1.00 and $2.00, and a large selection of specially priced books at a slightly higher cost.
The Friends are also holding an ongoing mini-sale at the Manross Memorial Library, 260 Central Street, Forestville, starting on June 8 and running until the end of the month. This sale features hardcover and softcover books for readers of all ages, and the books can be purchased whenever the library is open.
Both sales will allow shoppers to stock up on summer reading material, and the proceeds will help fund mini-grants for children, young adult, and adult programs at both Bristol libraries.
2014 Holiday Mini Book Sale The Friends of the Bristol Public Library will hold a Holiday Mini-Sale beginning on Monday, December 1st in the lobbies of the Bristol Public Library and the Manross Memorial Library. Nearly new books for readers of all ages, movies and CDs, including many holiday-themed and gift-quality items, will be available for purchase at reasonable prices whenever the libraries are open. The sale will allow shoppers to stock up on winter reading material as well as holiday gifts, and the proceeds will help fund reading programs for children, young adults, and adults at both Bristol libraries.
On Monday, August 4, at 1:00 PM, The Bristol Public Library & the Memorial Military Museum will co-sponsor a program entitled: “Bristol Boys in WW I: The Yankee Division & the Battle of Seicheprey.” The evening will be hosted by Bristol Press Columnist & City Historian, Bob Montgomery and will tell the story of the Bristol soldiers during the first encounter of American and German troops in the First world War. There will also a presentation and exhibit of original artifacts from the battle and the First World War courtesy of the Memorial Military Museum. The program will be held at Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, in Bristol, CT. There is no charge for this program. Please register at the library or call; (860) 584-7787 x 2023. The Bristol Public Library & the Manross Memorial Library will be closed Saturday May 24, Sunday May, 25 & Monday May 26, 2014 in observance of Memorial Day. The Bristol Public Library will re-open on Tuesday, May 27 at 8:30 AM and the Manross Memorial Library will re-open Tuesday, May 27 at 10:00 AM.
