Stories from Route 6 @ BPL

Don’t miss “Ten Million Steps: Stories from Route 6 Walk,” presented by local author and former News-Times (Danbury) reporter, Joe Hurley. The presentation will share stories from Joe’s walk across America along Route 6 from Cape Cod to California and provide a guided virtual tour of America’s most famous highway. Copies of the book Ten Million Steps will be available for signing at the event.

10 Million Steps: A fresh look at America and Americans
From Cape Cod to California on Route 6,  is author Joe Hurley’s  account  of his walk across America  on Route  6, from Cape Cod, through Connecticut, to Los Angeles, California.  “Ten Million Steps” is a sketch of the U. S. through the eyes of coal miners, farmers, banjo players, parents, country folk and city folk. The book is also about ducks that walk on fish, scary cows, women in hard hats, a bike that floats, and the bravest little car in the world. And it’s about places you can’t savor in the fast lane. Author Joe Hurley will give a behind the scenes look at the walk, the book and the faces of Route 6. Want to know how many pairs of shoes Joe wore out on his 3,500 mile walk – or whether it really was 3,500 miles and whether it really was 10 million steps? Just ask Joe in person. Joe has the answers to these and all of the important questions facing the world today. Ok, slight exaggeration. But he does know a lot about the people and places on Route 6. Joe tells it all in “Behind the Scenes of Ten Million Steps” his little one-man performance including a zesty talk, some of Travis great photos and most important – lots of time for Q and A. Mr. Hurley will have the book available for purchase and signing. No charge. Please register by visiting BPL or calling: (860) 584-7787 x 2023.
