In today’s tough economy, Bristol Public Library System offers free resources to help people find jobs and learn new skills. People of all ages and backgrounds borrow materials, gather for book discussions, and bring their children to storytime. By visiting Bristol’s libraries, people come to find their place in this community. Bristol Public Library System helps this community thrive.

Computer Lab Closed & Where You Can Go For Help

sad keyDue to the loss of our computer instructor, who has taken a position elsewhere, the Computer Lab at the Main Library is closed and will remain closed until a new instructor is hired. All classes are cancelled and one-on-one instruction will not be available.

We know many of you will be inconvenienced by the closure of our computer lab. If you are looking for computer instruction, Bristol Adult Continuing Education and the Senior Center both offer classes. Contact Bristol Adult Continuing Education at (860) 584-7865 & the Senior Center at (860) 584-7895.

If you are looking for resume writing or job search strategy workshops, contact the New Britain CT Works Center @ (860) 827-6240 or the Newington Goodwill Career Center at (860) 665-0881.

Scanning services are available at Staples on Route 6/Farmington Avenue.

New ESL/Literacy Materials Collection Thanks to a Grant From the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation

Thanks to the generosity of the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Literacy tutors and students at the Bristol Public Library will have more resources at their disposal. The library is pleased to be one of the 167 recipients of the 2012 Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation grants. The Foundation funds many programs in Thomaston and surrounding communities that seek to better the lives of the people in their communities.

The grant, which totaled just over $1600, has allowed the library to start a core collection of materials that teachers, tutors and students can use in their lessons. The collection is located on the second floor near the Career Center. A list of materials is available at the library.
