Bristol Public Library

Friends Accepting Book Donations Again

The Friends of the Bristol Public Library are once again accepting donations of books and other items (see below). The Friends had paused on accepting donations until after the Winter Book Sale due to lack of space to store donated items. The Friends rely on the sale of donated books as their primary source of income and depend on the community’s generosity to help raise those funds. All funds raised by the Friends directly benefit Bristol’s public libraries.

DONATION GUIDELINES

Donations are accepted at the Bristol Public Library and Manross Memorial Library whenever the libraries are open. Please take your donations to the designated locations: do not put these items in the library book-return bins.

At the Bristol Public Library, donation bins are located on the lower level, to the left of the double doors at the bottom of the main stairway. Carts are available at the circulation desk, and there is elevator access to the lower level.

At the Manross Memorial Library, donations are accepted at the circulation desk.

The Friends accept:

  • Hardcover and paperback books
  • Audio books
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Vinyl records
  • Puzzles
  • Textbooks (less than three years old)
  • New or gently used copy paper boxes

If you intend to make a large donation (more than five boxes), call 860-604-6819 or 860-378-7769 to make delivery arrangements.

The Friends do not accept:

  • Encyclopedia sets
  • VHS tapes
  • Items that have been wet or stored in a damp area

If you need us to send you a receipt, leave a note at the library Circulation Desk with your name and address, date of donation, and the number of hardcovers, softcovers, CDs, etc. that you donated.
