Remembering Bristol’s Civil War Soldiers

Remembering Bristol’s Civil War Soldiers is a program presented on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest battle in American history, to honor the service and sacrifice of these brave Bristol men.

Ceremony to be held at the Civil War monument in West Cemetery on September 17 at 6.  Limited seating is available, bring your own chair if desirable.  Rain date is September 25.  For cancellation information check our website at bristollib.com or call 860-584-7787 x2017.

Connecticut In The American Civil War With Dr. Matt Warshauer

Please join us on Wednesday, February 22, when Dr. Matthew Warshauer, CCSU professor of history and co-chair of the Connecticut Civil War Commission,  discusses our state’s role in the issues leading to the Civil War, the raising of troops, and the sacrifices of those who served at the front and at home. Copies of his book, Connecticut in the American Civil War: Slavery, Sacrifice and Survival, will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

This event begins in the lower level of the Main Library at 7 pm on February 22. This is a free event and no registration is required.
