Experienced Poe actor and researcher Campbell Harmon speaks in-character as Poe with the audience about the author’s life, his death, and his profound influence on American literature; dispelling the myths that have surrounded his legacy to show how his works continue to affect us today.

Book & Movie Combo @ BPL: Me Before You in October!

 On Thursday, October 13 @ 6:00 PM, the Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, Bristol, CT,  presents the 2016 American-British drama-film Me Before You ( Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin) based on the book by JoJo Moyes.  Discussion of the book and movie follow.  Limited copies of the Book available at the library. Saturday Hours Announced for this Fall in the Bristol History Room

In addition to its regular hours, the Bristol Public Library’s local history room will be open from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on the following Saturdays:

September 17

October 15

November 12

December 10

Visitors will have a chance to win a free gift.  On permanent display in the Bristol History Room are nearly a hundred historic images including an entire wall devoted to Lake Compounce. There are exhibits of locally made clocks, New Departure bells and Civil War photographs.  Our collection includes: books, pictures and postcards, city directories, yearbooks, maps, diaries, church and assessor’s records, newspapers on microfilm, cemetery, birth, death and marriage indexes.
