A compilation and demonstration of Indian traditional dance pieces celebrating Diwali–The Festival of Lights. Sarada Nori and her company will present a collection of songs, and visuals before each song, to highlight the underlying Hindu narratives embodied in their dances. The songs will correspond to legends associated with the origin of Diwali–one of India’s most important festivals. Sarada Nori is the founder and artistic director of Layavinyasa, a non-profit organization that propagates Kuchipudi dance and Carnatic classical music originating from south India. She holds a Masters degree in Arts, specializing in Kuchipudi.
