Matthew Bartlett (author of The Gettysburg Chronicle) and Jenn Bartlett will present For the Sake of the Country: Female Spies During the Civil War at Bristol Public Library, 5 High Street, Bristol, CT, on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 PM. The program tells the stories of 4 women spies (2 Union and 2 Confederate) who risked all for the sake of their country. Reliving the 1940s scheduled for Thursday, February 5th at BPL is postponed due to concerns about parking and public safety with the weather status for Thursday being unclear. The program will be offered again in August as part of the Summer Reading Program. The exact date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed with the CT Historical Society. The library Lunch & Movie excursion, to see the movie Unbroken, scheduled for 12/30/2014 has been postponed due concerns with the mixed reviews received by the film. The library has decided to wait until the more information is available concerning the actual character of the film before making a decision to either re-schedule the trip to the theater or show the film at the library at some future date.
