The Bristol Public Library System will close today, October 29, at noon due to Hurricane Sandy. We expect to reopen for normal business hours tomorrow (8:30 for Bristol Main and 10 for Manross).
While we’re closed, you may still use the library catalogs to place holds, check your library card, or renew items. The library’s databases, downloadable audiobooks, and eBooks will also remain accessible with your library card while we’re closed. The library catalog and databases can be accessed through our website bristollib.com.
The Bristol Storm Shelter at Chippens Hill Middle School on Peacedale Road will open today at noon. Please bring necessary medications, toiletries, a pillow, reading materials, etc. There will be cell phone charging capabilities. Pets are allowed but must be crated and necessary food and/’or medications should be brought with you.
Due to ongoing construction, Beals Senior-Community Center on Stafford Avenue is not a designated shelter.
The November 2012 election is almost upon us! Are you registered to vote? Registrations sent by mail must be postmarked by Tuesday October 23 for the November 6 election. In person registration deadline is noon Tuesday October 30. Contact the Registrar’s Office at 860-584-6165 and/or click here to download a voter registration application from the CT Secretary of the State.
Not sure where you’ll vote on November 6? Enter your name, address, and date of birth at the Connecticut Voter Location Lookup site to locate your polling place or call the Registrar of Voters.

A Community Relations Officer from the United States Department of Immigration Services will present an information session on Naturalization and Citizenship from 6 to 7 on Thursday, November 1. This program is open to legal permanent residents and others interested in learning more about the naturalization/citizenship process. The program will include an overview of the Naturalization Process, the Naturalization Test, and the Rights and Responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship.
